Mama, You're a Good Girl!

Maui wrote (translated):

"I love you Mama.
I like you Mama because you are a good girl.
You are beautiful Mom.
I'm happy Mama. You are wonderful.
Love, Maui."

Wow! I'm a good girl! This despite the fact that I've been in an incredibly sour mood since yesterday. Something has been bothering me lately. Or probably, it's that time of the month. Yesterday, my voice was practically raised all day to hubby and Maui. But, I still got good marks from Maui. I guess she loves me no matter what. This made me smile... for the first time... yesterday.

My Little Ballerina

Today, Maui had her first ballet class this summer. She had taken ballet lesson summer of last year and she really loved it. We didn't enroll her during the school year because we were afraid it might conflict with her studies.

Maui is totally in love with ballet. I remember when she was only 4 months old, we were watching ballet in TV. She couldn't stand yet on her own. Her babysitter was holding her so she could stand. To our amazement, she started imitating the ballet on TV by putting 1 leg up! She was even smiling at that time. We were so surprised! I was glad I was able to capture it in photo.

Everytime we watch a ballet show, I notice her looking at the feet of the dancers, watching their every move. She even told her grandmother that she wanted to be a ballerina when she grows up.

Ballet lessons don't come cheap. The uniform itself and ballet shoes cost some money already. Mind you, we are not rich. But we'll do anything for our kids, right?

A Bicycle for A Smile

Maui just graduated from Kindergarten. She will be entering 1st grade this June. As promised by her dad, we bought her her first big bike (16" bike) as her graduation gift. It was a Disney Princess bike, something that she had wanted for so long. The cost is way above our regular budget for her toys, but it was well worth all the money when we saw how happy she was. This morning she gave us a letter.

Maui wrote:

"To Mama and Papa, I love you. Thank you for the bike. From, Maui"

We were happy to have brought up such an expressive and grateful child.

Welcome to Our Blog!!!

Maui and I are so excited to finally be starting with our project -- this blog! Maui is currently 6 1/2 years old and is just learning to read and write. She can already read on her own and just needs a little help for more difficult words.

Maui likes writing. Her grammar and spelling are not perfect, but I do understand the words coming from her heart. For now, I will be writing the translations just so it could be better understood.

Maui wrote (translated):
To Mama, I love you Mama. I like you.
I am having fun with you Mama. I am having lots of fun Mama.
You are beautiful Mama. I like you.
From Maui

Since I quit my corporate job and started working at home, I have received a lot more of these love letters from Maui. Yes, I did get a lot of cards and letter (almost daily) from Maui even when I was still going to the office everyday. She missed me a lot back then. But now that we spend more time together, she has told me again and again how much happier she is right now. I'm so thankful because I was given this opportunity to work at home and personally oversee her day-to-day needs.
